Psalm 72:3-4 May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness. May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor.
The vision of the scriptures constantly puts in front of us God’s concern for the poor and the needy. God’s heart is for the prosperity of all people. The manufactured systems in which live are geared not towards this vision of equity and abundance rather they are geared towards individuals competing for their own ends. The future which Advent anticipates breaks into our reality in those moments when lives are transformed and a new vision of reality is represented before them.
Ron Finley transforms peoples lives as he provides a new vision of reality in one of the more difficult suburbs of LA – South Central. Suggesting “gardening is my graffiti” Finley paints the landscape with a new reality in which prosperity can be shared and people can find hope that transcends their personal reality.
